Who we are

The Brown Tag began with a simple, honest observation!

Have you ever stood in a yoga or exercise class, surrounded by high-performance gear, sophisticated surroundings and felt a silent pressure to fit in? To look a certain way, to move a certain way?
Maybe you adjusted your clothes more than your breath or felt slightly disconnected from the very practice meant to ground you.

We’ve been there too.

We noticed how many women—of all shapes and sizes—were trying to find peace and connection while wearing tight, synthetic activewear that distracted more than it supported. That observation led us to a simple truth:

In practices meant to liberate, discomfort had quietly become the norm. We knew there had to be another way.

Why we exist

We believe yoga is not a performance.
It is a relationship with your body.

The Brown Tag was created for women who want to move, breathe, travel, and simply be — without feeling restricted, watched, or pressured to look a certain way. Our clothing is designed to fade into the background, so your attention can return to what truly matters: your breath, your body, and your inner world.

Our philosophy: Feel over Form

Our guiding question:

How should this feel on the body?

Our apparels are intentionally relaxed. They allow space for breath, softness for movement, and ease for long hours of wear. We work with natural fabrics like cotton and hemp because they are breathable, kind to the skin, and grounded in simplicity.

Many of our pieces carry handcrafted block prints made by skilled artisans. Each garment holds a quiet story of hands, heritage, and care — reminding us that what we wear can be meaningful without being loud.

We make this for...

Women who choose comfort over comparison.
Presence over pressure.
Authenticity over expectation.

Rooted locally, worn globally

Designed in India and inspired by a slower, more conscious way of living, The Brown Tag is rooted in natural fabrics, mindful design, and traditional craft. While our roots are local, our philosophy is universal.

Wherever you practice, travel or call home, our garments are created to feel familiar, breathable, and grounding — offering comfort that translates across climates, cultures, and everyday rituals.

A note from the founder

The Brown Tag grew from my own desire to find comfort — not just in clothing, but in self-acceptance. I wanted to create something gentle and honest for women like me, who value "how they feel over how they are perceived". Thank you for being here and making us a part of your journey.

Deeptee, The Brown Tag
